Approved Plumbers Halesowen: There’s a joke that says ‘crime doesn’t pay, but at least you’re your own boss!’ But the sad fact is that crime does indeed pay, and the victims are often hapless consumers who are taken in by rogue traders.
Here at the Approved Trader Directory we often hear sad stories of consumers who pay a trader in good faith for work to be done, only to find that the work is never even started and the so-called trader has made off with their money, never to be found again. The smart van with the company logo, the mobile phone number, the professional looking brochure – all are part of a smoke screen, designed to lull the consumer into a false sense of security.
It doesn’t have to be like that, though. Consumers CAN protect themselves and at the Approved Trader Directory we are proud to be part of the protection package. Our contribution to consumer protection is a significant step in primary protection.
Here’s how it works. We operate the Directory for the benefit of both consumers and traders. From the point of view of the trader, the Directory offers a platform where he can prove his identity and bona fides. From the point of view of the consumer on the other hand the Directory is the place where traders can be checked out.
When a trader wishes to be listed in the Directory we vet the business. If it doesn’t pass our screening process, then we don’t include it and we refund the trader’s fee.
When the traders’ credentials have been established, we include them in the Directory where careful consumers can check them out before selecting them to do their work.
So whether it’s a landscape gardener, a tree surgeon, a soft furnishings specialist or a plumber – a listing in the Approved Trader Directory is the gateway to peace of mind in trader selection.
